Newhouse students, faculty and guests got to witness a stellar panel of judges as they reviewed the result of nearly 300 submissions to select the 2015 Alexia Foundation Student and Professional Grant recipients.

Recipient of the professional grant is Paolo Marchetti, of Rome, Italy, for his project about the Price Of Vanity and student first place recipient is Michael Santiago, a student at the San Francisco Art Institute, for his project about the declining numbers of African American farmers.

The Grants, created by Peter and Aphrodite Tsairis in honor of their daughter Alexia, has been judged annually at Newhouse for 25 years. This year’s judges were Sarah Leen, director of photography at National Geographic Magazine, Chicago based photographer and film maker Carlos Javier Ortiz and Julia Dolan, the Minor White Curator of Photography at the Portland, Oregon, Art Museum.
