Students Attend and Win Awards at the 2015 Eddie Adams Workshop
Last weekend, seven Newhouse MPD Photography students —
Ben Cleeton, Ousman Diallo, Chase Guttman, Drew Osumi, Michael Santiago, Shira Stoll and Kristen Tomkowid — attended the 2015 Eddie Adams Workshop.
Three of the students won top awards.
Michael Santiago won a scholarship to the NPPA Multimedia Immersion, Drew Osumi won an assignment from ESPN and Ousman Diallo won a week-long internship at The White House.
According to Michael Santiago, “It is a life-changing experience.” And when asked what advice he would give to photographers who would like to attend, he offered this:
Don’t think that you aren’t worthy enough and that your work is not good enough. Applying will prepare you to get better when you submit to different competitions. It’ll help you tweak your work, figure out what you are doing wrong and why you didn’t get in; just work on that. Never be afraid to apply because you never know, you could get in.
Newhouse’s Alexia Chair, Mike Davis, was also at the Workshop to review portfolios. Below are some of his photographs from the weekend.
If you aren’t familiar with the Eddie Adams Workshop, it is the premiere gathering of its kind in the world. 100 attendees had to submit portfolios and have three or fewer years of experience to be considered. Entrants come from around the world.
